A few members have shown an interest in and have asked about static displays so this might interest some of you. David has been approached by Paul McAuley, who was at one time a Club member and is now a Collections Logistics Technician at the museum. Paul has invited EAOVC members to the European Heritage Open day at the Transport Museum Stores on the 12th Sept. The Museum have asked that we bring some cars and they will have a designated space for us at the front to the building. This is an opportunity to see inside a working museum store, quite unlike the conventional public galleries but equally fascinating! These collections are part of European Open Day through a self-guided tour. Highlights include Rex McCandless' innovations, historic bicycles, motorbikes, boats and planes (notably the rare Shorts Sealand)
If you are interested please get in touch with David (07970 574 430) who will gather numbers and let the Museum know. Entrance is by ticket only but there will be no charge if we are bringing cars for the display.
The stores are located on Heron Road in behind the City Airport, a 2 min drive from Ikea at the holywood exchange See inside NI’s Transport and Industry store and experience a treasure trove of automotive, aeronautic, and non-motorised collections which highlight the social, industrial and sporting history of this part of the world!
