Kilbroney 2026

Kilbroney 2026, against all odds, turned out to be quite a pleasant and, as far as EAOVC was concerned, a sucessful day that seems to have been enjoyed by all. In typical Norn Irn fashion the weather on the Friday was horrendous. As we usually do, we had planned to leave around eight am to travel down, hopefully to claim a good stand. We had a phonecall after midnight advising us that the persistant heavy rain might mean postponing until better weather and not to leave in the morning until the powers that be had a look and make a decision. After heavy rain during the night it eventually stopped and with blue sky and a rise in temperature the ground had dried enough that the organisers were happy enough to go ahead. By Friday evening the ground was dry and a fair number of people and cars had arrived.

Saturday turned out to be a beautiful day and spectator numbers seemed to maybe be up on previous years. Loads of cars of every description, lots of the usual cars but plenty of β€œnew” stuff. Because of our late arrival the EAOVC stand was slightly smaller than usual but filled to capacity nicely. We were joined along with the Capri Club, both stands attracted a large number of interested people. I believe that we may even have gained a few new members. Martin kept himself busy advertising the Portrush Cavalcade, hopfully he will achieve his target of triple figures for the event.

To all who helped to make the day a sucess, many thanks for your support. Thanks to those who manned the tent and helped with set-up and clearing up afterwards, it just makes the day worthwhile when people, without prompting, know what has to be done and just go and do it.
