Easter Run 2026

In typical Northern Ireland fashion the day started off wet and windy with storm Dave threatening to dampen the proceedings. We left Corrs Corner with around 14/16 cars and fought our way through the elements to the Coast Road where we picked up another 7/8 cars, ending up as arranged at the beach carpark in Cushendall for a windswept picnic. Thankfully the rain ceased for a while and we were able to have some coffee and craic before leaving to travel to Newtown Crommelin to visit Paddy McKeown’s Museum of Horse Drawn Carriages. Paddy’s father (in the painting) bought him his first donkey when he was 5/6 years of age and that started Paddy’s lifelong love and passion for all things equestrian. Over the years Paddy’s love and passion for horse drawn carriages continued to grow and today he has acquired an unequalled collection - you will find nothing to rival it anywhere on this island. Some of these wonderful carriages originated in America or Switzerland and others elsewhere. They have been used for film work on numerous occassions. His brother Sean welcomed us into his fascinating museum across the road filled with equestrian and country life memorabilia and tales of their family’s relationship to Caribbean singing star, Rhianna, whose late father Ronald Fenty (Fenton) was of African/Northern Irish descent.

We left before the rain started again and drove the short distance to the Millside Restaurant in Cloughmills where we sat down to a hot meal of our choice. The food was excellent, the service was exceptional and was enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to James, a thoroughly enjoyable day out, great choice of both the museum and restaurant. A memorable first run of the season despite the weather. 20+ cars and over 50 intrepid travellers made it home safely, fed and watered, although a little wet and soggy but apparently home in plenty of time for the rugby.
