Treasure Hunt 17th July 2010
(You will need to put your entry form in ASAP)
Due to a lack of treasure hunt i.e. people who can do treasure hunt clues etc we have opted for a run instead! Meeting point is the Templepatrick Park and Ride Car Park at 11.30am sharp. This is located adjacent to the Templepatrick roundabout, on the main road to the International Airport. From here we will explore the hidden treasures of County Antrim; we will stop for a (BYO) picnic lunch. Afterwards we will drive via the second part of the run to Billy Andy’s Pub and Restaurant at Raloo for our early evening meal, which is optional i.e. it’s open to all with no set menu you pick and pay for what you want.Event Manager Norman Neill Mob 07765 475 825 - LATE ENTRIES CANNOT BE GUARANTEED.
Belfast-Portrush Cavalcade. Sunday 1st August
At time of going to press the entry list is about the 100 mark, which with all things considered i.e. the lack of numbers suffered by other clubs including our own on some events is not bad and is a reflection of the status of this run and the effort put in by the team who run it. This year we will be joined by a number of cars from a classic car club based at Blessington Co. Wicklow, they are spending the weekend up here with us as we did a number of years ago with them.BALLOT BOOKS. . As usual one or two books have been sent to you. Please make a special effort to sell the tickets (there are only 10 in each book).
IT IS IMPORTANT THAT EACH MEMBER ADHERES TO ROBERTS REQUEST. When you have disposed of the book/s, please return the counterfoil together with your cheque to Robert at the above address.
Robert knows that you have always been very supportive for the club’s charity and this year is not going be any different. We depend on your support. Now a little about the charity for this year:
The charity chosen at the AGM was Mid Antrim Animal Sanctuary. The MAAS is a nonprofit independent registered charity and relies upon the kindness and generosity of the people in Northern Ireland. It is run by a small staff, aided by a dedicated team of volunteers. They operate a strict NO KILL policy so our kennels are always full. To date they have re-homed over 9000 pets.”
We want to do our best to help. Your help in selling these ballot books will help us to get that little bit of extra cash to their day to day running of this Sanctuary. PLEASE HELP. I feel sure that you will.
Event Managers. Please note that you are required to have all details of your event available to go into print i.e. entry forms etc at least two months prior to your event, sorry folks but we are now too big for wing and a prayer type administration, we have to get entry forms out well in advance.
Presidents’ Run 22nd August 2010
This year we are going to the Bushmills area, Brain is hopeful that we can incorporate a tour of the Bushmills Distillery as part of his run. Details will be forthcoming in due course. The Chip Shop Run
This must be one of our most popular events as it was a sell out about a week before the run, which is good to see and made for a good night enjoyed by all. Read More..Uptown Hoedown Static Display Saturday 12th June 2010
Newtownabbey Borough Council / Glengormley Chamber of Trade, Uptown Hoedown Static Display Saturday 12th June 2010 was a good day out enjoyed by those who made it to what in future years should be a really good event. The idea is a country and western music festival with a number of side shows and ourselves taking part, next year we will have plenty of notice and not what we got this from NBC which means we can pick where we want to park up within a section of the park that was not used this year. This section could hold up to 150 cars if we wanted with views of the stage etc, I will keep the club posted re developments and my thanks goes to all who turned up.AOVC Static Display Ballymena Saturday 26th June
A good turnout by our club was let down by the poor overall turnout both by other car owners and members of the public attending, this is not a me having a pop at the AOVC, far from it, they have put in a super effort in the organization of the show together with Ballymena Borough Council. The lack of numbers is in the main down to the finical times that we live in; we all know that things are tight and the classic car scene is not immune by any means. From our clubs point of view a special vote of thanks must go to Norman Neill and family, who quite literally trucked in tables and chairs etc for our stand which were put to great use and appreciated by all.

YOU’RE VECHILE ON THE WEBSITE
Is your vehicle and maybe your photograph and some write up about your vehicle on the website? It is time it was. Please send a photo of your vehicle and yourself with some details by email to: Andy. Speaking of the website, if you take a look you can see what`s for sale, what’s going on and generally keep up to date faster than the newsletter. Also the member’s forum is the best way to express your point of view in between meetings. Again well done to Andrew Leckey for all the hard work that has gone into your website, which from now on will be the Clubs medium of choice for general communication etc.FOR SALE
Has anyone got anything for sale? If so let me know and I will include it.Editors Note.
If you take a look on the web site you will see a lot of hard work being put in by Andy plus my thanks also goes to those who have sent in photos of various events – more please.Gavin.
