Portrush Cavacade Charity Nomiations for 2018

The 2017 Portrush Cavalcade, dispite the not so great weather, was an outstanding success.  The total raised for the 2017 charity, Hope ouse Ireland, was £3500, thanks to the two hundred or so drivers and passengers that took part in the event, as well as those that sold ballot tickets for the run.

We now are on the look out for the 2018 charity nominees which have to be with the Club Secretary by the end of September 2017.

Please note that the person nominating the charity must be a member of the EAOVC, should have spoken to the charity and have, in writing from the charity, a brief outline of what the charity does.  The charity should be locally based with money raised expected to go towards the projects in Northern Ireland.

When approaching a registered charity to seek their permission, the charity needs to be made aware that it is expected to participate in our normal fund raising activities as agreed by the Portrush committee. For example the sale of ballots etc that may be required, if directed by the Portrush Committee, it is vital to the overall effort that they actively participate in our effort to help maximise a return for themselves.

The nominating club member is expected to have met with the charity and have outlined what would be reasonably expected of them, both on the day and leading up to the event, for example to be available for any advance PR or press opportunities, be in attendance during the day, from the start to the evening meal plus be available at the cheque handing over event, again at a date and venue as directed by the Portrush Committee.

It would also be reasonable to expect a nominated charity to help publicise the event by any means at their disposal, for example email contact list or charity newsletter and to provide for banners etc for use on the day

All valid nominations wiil be considered by the club committee and and put forward to be voted for at the AGM in November.  The committee may decide to remove any nomination that they deem are not suitable for the club.
